Event Detail

Session Overview: As nurses working in SRH, spirituality and religion sometimes feel in conflict or incompatible with our work to advocate for reproductive justice. Grief and shame can arise as we reckon with the narratives that reproductive justice and faith are often countered against each other. Simultaneously, assessing a patient's spiritual health or bringing in a patient's faith to help them process health challenges is not something that is a common part of nursing education or training. Separating spirituality from nursing care can limit the ability of both nurses and patients to navigate grief, loss, and healing in clinical spaces. In this session, we will grapple with these complexities and make space to discuss the emotions that come up.
